The temperature at game time Friday was 78 degrees, an increase of 31 degrees from Game 2 in Boston but 25 below the oppressive heat for last year’s opener at Dodger Stadium.

Boston ran up rookie Walker Buehler’s pitch count in a 1-2-3 first inning that included 11 foul balls, with Mookie Betts and Mitch Moreland seeing eight pitches each and Xander Bogaerts 10.
