Texas Solicitor General Kyle Hawkins Tes­ti­fies Before U.S. House Judi­cia­ry Subcommittee

Austin, TX (STL.News) – Texas Solicitor General Kyle Hawkins yesterday testified in Washington, D.C., before the U.S. House Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties.

The subcommittee heard testimony on continuing constitutional problems with the Voting Rights Act since the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in Shelby County v. Holder. In 2013, the high court struck down an outdated provision of the Voting Rights Act which required nine states, including Texas, to seek preclearance from the U.S.
